In this case, Huffy is a good thing. Hubby surprised me with a beautiful Huffy bike for my birthday. He went to great lengths to find one in my favorite color. Wow! What a great surprise!
It comes well appointed with fancy do-dads like a basket, cell phone holder, and beverage holder in front. While at the back there is a cargo rack. I’ll be shopping for a bell or horn for the handlebars. I’ve already ordered a cute helmet that looks like a Parisian hat from Bandbox.
After snapping a few photographs, I got ready to take her on a spin around the cul-de-sac. I wanted to keep my test drive short – I’m 63 years old and I haven’t been on a bike for over half of my life time. Besides, these days things are not so easily accomplished as they were in my 20’s and 30’s. To say I was a little wobbly would be an understatement. There were many starts and stops. I find I’m really good at the breaking process, but that doesn’t make for a very long ride. Right after I picked myself up off the neighbor’s front lawn, decided to put the bike up for the day. No scratches on either the bike or me. No bumps or bruises. There were tears – but those came from laughing so hard.
Even though the bike ride was less that stellar, the photographer in me had a ball. I just popped some flowers in the basket and had a very different kind of bike fun.
You know that old saying, “It’s just like riding a bike”? Well, I’m not quite buying into that any more. At least not just yet.
