2017 - I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year

For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Because of love, God gave. That was the very first Christmas. Love and giving are ideals shared by so many at Christmas time. Yet it seems that after a big party and turning of the calendar, the love and giving starts to diminish. I too have been guilty of this. A little bit of Ebenezer Scrooge can pop out of me from time to time. Ebenezer finally did the memo:
I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year”.
Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

In a few days hubby and I will begin the task of packing away all the Christmas d├ęcor. It’s an annual job that we do with mixed emotions. The inside and outside of our home will look less festive, but more normal. Thankfully, the packing away process always goes much faster than the decorating process did. Still, when it’s all done it will feel like something is missing.

When those feelings start, this Carol needs to tap into the love and giving from her own heart. So, I too will honor Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all the year…and be my own Christmas Carol.

I hope you will carry Christmas into 2017.

Have a Blessed and Happy New Year

  1. Un-decorating is my project for today. I always miss the decorations when I first take them down, but it isn't long before I'm appreciating the more spare, uncluttered look. Happy New Year to you and yours!

  2. Your photo is a wonderful way to express this verse.
I always feel so in charge when I pack and organize things away and I always hope the motivation will continue for a little while anyway ;)

  3. Scrooge's words - and your thoughts expressed here - are a great reminder to not pack away the love and generosity of Christmas with the decorations. :-) We'll be packing our decorations up on the weekend, after Epiphany, and I know I'll have those same mixed feelings.
