For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Because of love, God gave. That was the very first Christmas. Love and giving are ideals shared by so many at Christmas time. Yet it seems that after a big party and turning of the calendar, the love and giving starts to diminish. I too have been guilty of this. A little bit of Ebenezer Scrooge can pop out of me from time to time. Ebenezer finally did the memo:
“I will honour Christmas
in my heart, and try to
keep it all the year”.
Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol
I hope you will carry Christmas into 2017.
Un-decorating is my project for today. I always miss the decorations when I first take them down, but it isn't long before I'm appreciating the more spare, uncluttered look. Happy New Year to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteYour photo is a wonderful way to express this verse.
ReplyDeleteI always feel so in charge when I pack and organize things away and I always hope the motivation will continue for a little while anyway ;)
Scrooge's words - and your thoughts expressed here - are a great reminder to not pack away the love and generosity of Christmas with the decorations. :-) We'll be packing our decorations up on the weekend, after Epiphany, and I know I'll have those same mixed feelings.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this!!! The photo and your words. :)
