We’ve had rough time since my last post. We lost my dad last Christmas, then an Aunt in February and my Father-in-law in July.
In January my mom moved into our home. She has her own apartment here, where she can live independently. Mom joins us for dinner most nights. Sometimes she just wants to cook for herself. We join mom for coffee in the mornings, aka: Mornings with Mom.
I had surgery in June – nothing major, but it took over six weeks to get back to my old self.
However, there was one positive highlight during July. We were in Oregon and got the pleasure of meeting our newest great grandchild. He was five months of cuteness with the sweetest little personality. He is our 8th great grandchild and my mom’s 11th great-great-grandchild.
During all this, I had lost any desire to pick up my camera or make a blog post. Finally, in August I started to get back to doing the things I love.
At the suggestion of some photographer-neighbors, hubby and I entered enter some images in our local fair. We’ve not done anything like this before, so we didn’t know what to expect. We enter the max number of photographs each person was allowed, three photos (each in a different category). When the fair opened to the public we attended – also something we don’t usually do. Hubby did really well, he received two First Place ribbons and an Honorable Mention ribbon. I received a First Place ribbon and a Third Place ribbon.
my Third Place - AutumnLast weekend we attended the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic. These balloons are so beautiful. It just proves that sometimes being full of hot air is a good thing.
I’m so looking forward to getting some Autumn photos – maybe even squeaking in a camping trip or two before we put the trailer away for winter.
